March 5, 2018 The article I read was from Los Angeles Times. The date of publication is March. 5, 2018 The name of the article is "Separating children and parents at the border is cruel and unnecessary". The author of the article is The Times Editorial Board. The article is about separation of parents that illegally crossed the border from their kids that are US citizens. It is a cruel thing and causes traumatizes kids and distress parents. The Trump Administration is eager to limit illegal immigration. The article is about the horrible effects from the escalated roundups of that grab illegal immigrants living in the US. They do this even if they don´t have a criminal record. They send the parents back and put the children in child centers. The Trump Administration is willing to stop illegal immigration by using cold-hearted enforcement to roundup illegal immigrants. No matter how clean their criminal record is or how productive they are as members of the community. The Department of Homeland Security is being sued over the practice and ignored a request asking how many children were separated from their parents. In December, a coalition groups filed complaints against Homeland Security because of this practice. When parents and children cross the border and tell border agents they want to apply for asylum, under the Obama administration, the families are often released in the care of a relative, organization, or family detention center. Under the Trump administration, the parents, who sneak across the border and turn themselves in are charged with crime and children are sent away from them. Activists believe this is to send the message, ¨Dare to seek asylum at border and we´ll take your child.¨ This event happens in the US. This event happened since Trump took office. During the US governments 2017 fiscal year, which ended in September 30th, the US border agents made 310,531 arrests, a decline of 24% from the previous year and from the previous year and and fewest overall since 1971. Immediately after Trump won the election, the number of people being taken into custody increased again. I think that separating parent and child no is cruel and unnecessary for illegal immigrants. Asking for help should never be have consequences that make everything worse. I think that there should be special rights for illegal immigrants who´s children are born in the US so their family does get separated and for more offered to them if they ask for help from Border patrol agents. First off, I would like to say that your post was very well written and clearly thoroughly researched, so wonderful job! I too agree that illegal immigrants should be given the right to become legal citizens of the United States. However, I do wonder what processes would have to be put in place in order to make this happen as well as what we as citizens can do to contribute to the cause. How do you think the government should go about instating these legal processes?

I think you did an amazing job on the blog post! You clearly researched a lot about the topic. I also agree that there should a way for parents who come here illegally, but have children who are citizens, to become citizens themselves. No child should have to live without their parents for this reason. What do think a good compromise would be to this topic of immigration?
