In the book, Gone with the Wind, Scarlett is staying home because she's supposed to be mourning the death of Charles, and wants to go outside. There is a party that is meant to raise money for the hospital and some of the soldiers who are fighting in the civil war are going to be there. Two of the girls where were supposed to sell stuff at a booth, got sick. Melanie and Scarlett volunteer to help. When Scarlett is at the both, she goes on about how she wants to dance and wear pretty dresses. She begins to realize how different she is from the rest of the towns people. They all truly believe that the South will beat the North and that the war is necessary but Scarlett doesn't care about it. The doctor makes a speech about how everyone should give up jewelry to pay for the war. Scarlett tosses her wedding ring when giving it away because she never loved Charles while Melanie takes her's off while almost crying. While Scarlett is working in the booth with Melanie, she catches the eye of Rhett Butler. Scarlett tries to ignore him but he starts talking to her. She is nervous around him because he knows about what happened with her and Ashely. He explains that he is a blockade runner who supplies the town with things like dresses, medicine. He also see's the war as a opportunity to make lots of money. He's sarcastically polite to her and makes Scarlett mad. Scarlett says she cares about the war but Rhett won't buy it and says that he can see how badly she wants to dance, even though she is a widow. Then, a auction begins for who can dance with each girl. People start yelling how much they'll pay but Rhett offers to pay a hundred and fifty dollars in gold to dance with Scarlett. Scarlett doesn't care about the negatively she will receive and dances with him. He keeps offering money to dance with her throughout the entire night.
I think the story will continue with Scarlett and Rhett getting along more and talking about how different they are from everyone else. If I had to write a spinoff, I would like to write it from Rhett's perspective because so far he has been my favorite character and really contradicts what the book has been about so far. I think it would be interesting to write about how he thinks. I think the main conflict would be the same as the book I am reading, but will help paint a more complete picture about what is happening in the story. I would recommend this book to a friend because it is historical fiction and has many references to historical events that people who like history might be interested in. I will comment on Rachna, Matthew and Michael´s blog posts.

In the book, Gone with the Wind, Charles Hamilton dies when he goes off to Carolina to fight. Scarlett becomes a widow two months after she married. She also has a baby, who she didn't want. Scarlett follows a strict set of rules for widowed woman and has to wear black dresses with no jewelry and isn't allowed to have fun or talk about herself like the unmarried girls. She's depressed and realizes that her town is boring so she is sent off by her mom to visit family. She visits her parent's relatives and has a boring time there. Then, Charles's aunt, Miss Pittypat invites Scarlet to visit Melanie and her in Atlanta. Scarlett goes off and realizes she likes Atlanta but doesn't like Melanie or Miss Pitypat. She also joined a nursing committee.
If I were in the book, I think I would be friends with Melanie because she seems really nice and likes helping people in the hospital. I think I would interact in this story by joining committees and groups because that's what most women seem to be doing. I think I would get along with Melanie and Miss Pitypat because they're nice people and they want to help Scarlett. I think I would struggle to get along with Scarlett because she's kind of mean and blunt. She can't get over Ashley and hates her baby just because its also Charles's kid. I will comment Rachna, Matthew, and Michael's posts. In the book, Gone With the Wind, Scarlett O'Hara goes to the barbecue with her sisters and father, Gerald. While they are on their way to there, they speak to Mrs. Tarleton, who is a horse breeder and her kids. At the barbecue there is a lot of food and people talking. Scarlett goes off to look for Ashley and she sees Rhett Butler. Scarlett talks to Cathleen Calvert who tells her Rhett left his hometown because he slept with a girl and then refused to marry her because she was a fool. Then, Scarlett runs into Charles Hamilton who is a guy who likes Scarlett and is related to Melanie, the girl who is going to marry Ashley. Scarlett flirts with him even though she doesn't like him and then he confesses to her. Scarlett leaves and goes off to look for Ashley again and goes to the library. She confesses to Ashley he says he can't marry Scarlett because she's too different. Scarlett gets upset and slaps him. Then she realizes the Rhett Butler was listening and he tells her she's unladylike. Scarlett also overhears other girls talking about her. Scarlet marries Charles to get back at Ashley and the people who gossip about her.
The three characters whos relationships I will explain are Ashley Wikes, Scarlett O'Hara, and Charles Hamilton. Ashley did like Scarlett but doesn't want to marry her because she is too different. Scarlett hates Ashley for rejecting her and loves him still at the same time. Charles likes Scarlett because he thinks she's nice and pretty but Scarlett doesn't care about him and compares him to a dying calf. Advice I would give to Scarlett would be to not slap Ashley and yell at him because that makes things worse and to give Charles Hamilton a chance because he's not that bad. The relationship between Scarlett and Ashley changes the main character's whole goal of marrying him because before this point Scarlett went on and on about him. The relationship between Scarlett and Charles and the fact that there going to be married, will play a big role in how the rest of the story because that means Scarlett is going to be close to Ashley whether she likes it or not. I will comment on Matthew's, Rachna's, and Michael's post. I am reading the book, Gone With the Wind. In this book, the main character Scarlett O'Hara lives on her families' plantation in the South. This is in the same time period as the Civil War and there is tension between the North and South. Scarlett finds out that a person she likes named Ashley is going to marry a girl named Melanie. Her dad tells her that she and Ashley wouldn't make a good couple and is upset about it. She plans to go to a barbecue to win him back. I think that Scarlett's plan of marrying Ashley isn't going to work out and that Scarlett's affection is one sided. I predict that she will find someone else at the barbecue since she's so popular and that more things involving the Civil War will happen. I like the book so far because its very different from other books I've read.
